WIMS-Cardano Educators coding day : Scratch and Marlowe
What are Scratch and Marlowe?
In South Africa, a new subject called *Coding* has been introduced, spanning from primary to secondary/high school. For primary schools, block-based coding is the recommended method for introducing learners to programming. This is facilitated through tools like Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/), a visual IDE that helps learners develop computational skills using visual blocks.
Educators were introduced to this approach by creating a “Dancing Club” project, which not only made learning fun but also demonstrated the potential for integration with advanced technologies, such as Cardano’s Marlowe. Marlowe is a domain-specific language (DSL) designed for financial modeling on the blockchain, bridging the gap between simple block-based coding and more complex financial contracts(https://marlowe.iohk.io/).
